Inside cover: As Tomo sits in the bath, she wonders if her “particular body parts” being able to float in the water is normal. She asks Kimi if her “particular body parts” float in the water too. Naturally, Kimi interprets this question in her own special way and assumes Tomo’s grown a knob. Prologue: As preparations begin for the joint Musashi/Asama and KPA Italia/Aki music festivals, Tomo’s thoughts turn to music. Being the successor of Asama Shinto shrine, music has always been a tool to please the gods and enlist their help in purifying the land of spiritual abnormalities. As such, she’s always considered music that entertains to be strange and unnecessary. However, spending time with Kimi and Neito has allowed her to gain a new perspective on music, and she thinks that perhaps she’s being too closed-minded and conservative. Then Kimi gets tangled in a microphone cord and pretends she’s being tentacle-raped. Meanwhile, the Pope is in full-on Archie Bunker-mode, and complains to Galileo how the Far Easterners are primitive heretics and that he hates their music. Galileo can’t be bothered to have a serious discussion about it, so he just humors him until he shuts up. Back to the festival preparations, the large-scale purifications in preparation for the festival have attracted minor aether anomalies to the scene, hoping to enjoy some purified aether. One such anomaly in the form of a tiny Cerberus appears (see cover, mini-novel v2), and takes a liking to Neito. Since it’s a harmless nature spirit, she agrees to care for it until loses the ability to maintain its form and must be returned to aether. Chapter 1 Shortly afterwards, a more dangerous aether being materializes on the stage (see pic). Sakai and “Musashi” watch from Musashi’s deck, and Sakai reminisces about his history with KPA Italia. He points out that KPA Italia is trying to prove it’s still a force to be reckoned with by forcing Musashi to deal with the aether being (if Musashi fails, KPA Italia can jump in and save the day, and thus force a debt upon them). Through the combined efforts of Neito, Tomo, Kimi and Adele, the aether being is finally stopped. As the fight wraps up, we’re introduced to Musashi’s previous student council, who just arrived on the scene. After chatting a bit, everyone heads home. Chapter 2 On her way home, Tomo stops to watch Margott and Malga rehearse for their act. By the way, Malga plays the viola, and Margott plays the guitar/xylophone, kinda like Geddy Lee. Tomo thinks some more about the idea of playing music for entertainment, when she bumps into the Student Council president Torii Mototada again. After the usual jokes about Tomo’s boobs, Torii mentions that some of the acts have dropped out of the music festival, and asks if Tomo would be willing to help out. Tomo is somewhat flustered by the request, and when she asks Neito for advice, Neito thinks she’s trying to confess to her, and begins to wonder if Tomo’s a lesbian. Later on at the Mukai bathouse, Tomo asks Suzu about starting a band. Suzu immediately objects, remembering a promise Tomo made with Toori back in grade school. However, what Suzu remembers is a promise Tomo made to Toori not to wear a (chest) band; Tomo used to wear one so she didn’t stand out as much compared to the other girls, apparently. Anyway, Tomo asks Suzu to refresh her memory by re-enacting the promise. Suzu plays the part of Toori, and we have pic related. Everyone’s favorite German lesbian witch duo walks in, and hilarity ensues. Meanwhile, Kimi’s back at Blue Thunder with her mother, who introduces her to a silver-haired automated doll who recently boarded at Mikawa. Apparently, Toori’s been frequenting the store again after avoiding it all these years. Naturally, Kimi recognizes P01-S, puts two and two together, and begins to worry a bit about Toori. Then, a message arrives from Tomo which is of course, “accidentally” worded to sound like a confession, and the number of people who think Tomo’s playing for the other team increases. On her way home, Tomo experiments with lyrics and songwriting. The song she eventually comes up with, 星祭 (Star Festival), can be found (with vocals by Kimi) on the Horizon Special CD. And there you have it. Not a whole lot of progress, but these are only 150page novels. Anyway, if the Bitches' scans for MN 1b are readable (1a's were great btw. thanks, bro), I'll try to have the next summary by next week.
